"As some of you may know that there has been a new eSports magazine released fairly recently named "Pro Gam3r" from this year's QuakeCon and more recently the second issue was fresh off the press at the E 4 All event in Los Angeles, CA held this past weekend. The gaming magazine is produced and distributed by MyGameRoom, which feels professional gaming is the next big thing as "extreme sports" such as skateboarding and surfing was a few years ago. The following is from the press release made prior to QuakeCon:
"The magazine is very important to us because we feel that professional gaming is in a stage comparable to the early days of professional surfing and skateboarding. eSports is the next "extreme sports" movement. Skateboarding had magazines focusing on visuals and through those publications they made their athletes stars. We're doing the same thing," said Ted Hover, Chief Executive Officer, MyGameRoom.
Pro Gam3r will focus on the competitive gaming arena from both the PC and console worlds. Released quarterly, Pro Gam3r will offer a unique look at the work and play of pro-players and report on all pro-gaming league events such as CyberAthelete's Professional League, World Series of Video Games, Electronic Sports World Cup and the DirecTV Championship Gaming Series. The magazine will also record individual and league statistics along with lifestyle profiles about top-ranked players from around the world. Among the features are pro tips and tricks, gaming fiction and player interviews.
Pro Gam3r's QuakeCon Collector's premiere issue will be distributed to more than 7,000 estimated convention participants. This issue will feature articles on id Software and the QuakeCon event.
"The magazine reveals the skill and training involved in professional gaming. Like any other sport, video games provide not just entertainment but a lifestyle. We want you to get to know the players and the fascinating world of professional gaming," stated Pro Gam3r's Editor-in-chief Abraham Zarran."
